Any doctor can tell you feet than most people do not take precautions on their feet when they start a new exercise program. It is not as important when you talk about young children, teenagers and even young adults in excellent condition. It can become very important, however, when you’re in their thirties or later and are overweight. Although all exercise program will tell you to consult your physician before starting a new routine, few people bother to do it, much less consult their podiatrist. Maybe they should. If you want to avoid injury, here are some good habits to practice.

Start slowly

Anyone starting a new exercise routine would be wise to start slowly for a number of reasons. Although your main concern may not be as much as the foot doctor to avoid depletion (or serious heart problems), it can still benefit your feet to follow this advice. Do not try to jump right into running a mile or do high impact aerobics. These activities can have a serious detrimental effect on your legs, especially if you carry more weight than you should be right now. If you are injured, it will stop your routine in a short time. Start slowly and steadily building.

Buy Good Shoes

This does not mean the choice on the basis of marketing. Although you can benefit from choosing shoes designed for a specific activity, you are much better to try a few different pairs and picking shoes that are comfortable and durable. Many people make the mistake of choosing a pair of shoes they like, even if they are not comfortable to walk in. This can cause a variety of problems that can lead to a foot doctor visit . Avoid questions to begin by choosing shoes that are comfortable from the start.


Everyone knows the importance of stretching before a vigorous workout, but this is often limited to a few toes and a little touch your elbows behind the head. Many a foot doctor will recommend you to stretch your feet and ankles as well. After all, whatever activity you are about to start, your feet are likely to play a large role in helping you achieve your goals. Unless your whole routine consists of bench pressing, you should be concerned with your feet and how they will help you through the workout. Do not neglect them when it comes to stretching and drawing.
