is a common problem. You’ve probably been there and crossed by several remedies now, from hot soups to powerful antibiotics, and I wondered: is it one of these really work?

What causes sore throat

The first (and largest) part of curing a disease is to know what caused the first place. In the case of a sore throat, it could be many things, and it’s just your “ordinary” garden-variety condition. Severe throat problems are caused by a variety of things, some of which are compounded versions of normal.

Viruses and bacteria cause the most painful throat. In fact, hay is a major cause. These viral infections tend to cause inflammation in the throat area, most often with the mucous membrane that covers it, as with voice mail. This inflammation makes it annoying because it usually makes it difficult to swallow or speak. A virus usually causes tonsillitis, another common source of the state, but bacterial diseases such as can also cause the tonsils to become inflamed.

Injuries, environmental conditions and other problems with your body can also cause throat infection. Low humidity, smoking, air pollution and allergens in the air can cause inflammation of the throat. Stomach acid that backs can also irritate the throat.

Severe cases may be aggravated versions of the above. There are rare cases, however, is caused by sexually transmitted diseases. Some types of allergies can also cause severe cases of throat infections.

Some remedies for sore throat

Most cases of sore throats need little or no medicine. Especially in viral or bacterial infections, the best solution would be to let it run its course. Home remedies such as adequate rest, drink plenty of water and gargle with salt water may be sufficient to cope with the disease.

Many non-prescription medicines are available to treat the condition. Against cough lozenges and decongestants may help reduce swelling of the lining of the throat and treat underlying causes such as a runny nose from a bad cold.

One of the most popular non-prescription remedies are throat lozenges. They may face particular causes of throat problems, such as analgesics for bacterial infections and soothing agents for the inflamed mucosa. Some diamonds may also treat certain severe infections of the throat.

A type of drug that should not be used, at least without a prescription, are antibiotics. Despite the nature of certain bacterial infections of the throat, do not automatically rely on antibiotics, especially in cases of serious ones. Not only do you suffer side effects of drugs, you just cure the disease (especially if the cause was viral) and you may kill beneficial bacteria and help develop resistant strains of bacteria.
